Welcome to Afect Gear, a brand born out of a passion for precision engineering and a love of adventure. My name is Michael, and I am the founder of Afect Gear. Ever since I can remember, I had a fascination with how things worked and how they were made. This curiosity led me to pursue mechanical engineering. I started my career and to this day, work for a leading Australian hydraulics distributor and manufacturer. In my years working there i have developed a sound understanding of both mechanical and manufacturing skills and principles. But most importantly, through this work that I discovered the world of CNC machining, which quickly became a passion of mine. To expand on the variety of parts i was making, I set out design and developing cool products that I could use in my day-to-day life, and Afect Gear was born.

My initial foray into the world of precision machining of consumer gear was creating stainless steel watch housings to fit a variety of Apple Watches. While I loved these parts and the response from customers was overwhelmingly positive, the long development time for each new design and Apple's tendency to release new designs every year made it difficult to keep up. As a result, I transitioned into designing and producing stainless steel and soon-to-be titanium pocket pens, a product that gives me full design freedom to create something I love and that I hope others will enjoy as well. That is not to say though that i wont delve back in to the world of watch making in the future, so keep your eyes peeled.
